Ka-Band Landing System Transceiver

Renaissance Electronics, an AEM company, built the Ka-Band Landing System Transceiver (LST) to close that gap, using a two-part Transponder and Interrogator system that gives UAVs secure, real-time telemetry and control for a reliable landing in any environment, autonomous or remote-piloted. Backed by over 1,000 systems fielded over the past 15 years, the LST protects payloads, removes operator error from the equation, and extends the life of the aircraft.

UAV landings are a high-risk phase of any mission, and the field environments they take place in seldom provide a controlled runway or reliable ground reference. Optical or GPS-dependent landing aids often fall short, leaving valuable payloads exposed and putting more of the landing on the operator than it should.

The Landing System Transceiver is a two-part system designed for seamless integration into various platforms. It includes a Transponder Assembly for the UAV and an Interrogator Assembly for the ground station. This configuration allows the ground station to efficiently identify and facilitate the landing of friendly UAVs.
